Pine Straw is used in the same way in which you would use a bark mulch. It is commonly seen in Southeastern America.

Pine Straw acts in the same way as pine bark mulch in that it adds acid to the soil, benefiting plants like rhododendrons, azaleas,as well as blueberry, strawberry, raspberry plants, etc. Some plants, however do not benefit from acidic soil.
